Last Name Standing

Your game.
Your privacy.

Your cases, coins and settings are kept on your device. There is no player account or chat. If you use Google Play Games, your scores go on its leaderboards and your progress is saved to your Play Games account, so you can carry on on another phone. Advertising uses Google's services, which receive technical information as explained below.

Who provides the game?

Last Name Standing is provided by Havoc Forge Games, a trading name of Grey Kraken Ltd, company number 16162098, registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 2 Bathurst Road, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV6 1HY. Grey Kraken Ltd is responsible for the information it handles to provide and support the game. For privacy questions and requests, email havocforgegames@gmail.com. This notice covers the Android game and its test builds; the Havoc Forge Games website has its own notice.

Who the game is for

Last Name Standing is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. It does not ask your age.

Progress and settings

The game stores on your device: the cases you have solved and any case in progress (the names you crossed out, your time, hints used and wrong accusations), your coins, hint tokens and stars, your daily streak, daily gift and daily tasks, your rank, achievements, pencils and papers, the seasonal events you have played, the purchases your Google account owns, and your settings (sound, music, vibration, the daily reminder, the help level and the other switches in Settings). The game also keeps, on your device, a copy of the month's Census register so that it opens quickly. The game does not upload any of this to a studio server, and there are no player accounts, chat or player uploads. If you use Google Play Games, a copy of it is also kept in your Play Games account (see Saved games below).

These records remain until you clear the game's storage or uninstall it. If your phone's backup is on, Android may include the game's save in it, and restoring the backup brings it back; this depends on your device settings, and we cannot promise recovery. We cannot read or delete records held only on your device.

Daily reminder

Off unless you turn it on (the game offers it once, and Settings has a switch). When it is on, your phone schedules at most one notification a day, at 6 pm and never at night, about the day's case. On Android 13 and later, Android asks for your permission first. Your phone schedules and shows it; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. You can turn it off at any time in the game's Settings or in your phone's notification settings.

Sharing a result

When you solve a case you can tap Share. The game makes a picture of the result and a line saying which case you solved, in how long, with how many stars and a link to the game, and opens your phone's own share menu. You choose whether and where to send it; the game sends nothing by itself.

Leaderboards (Google Play Games)

If you use Google Play Games on your phone, the Leaderboards in your profile show where you rank against other players. Play Games signs you in by itself if you already use it, or when you tap Sign in with Play Games. Only when you are signed in does the game send Google Play Games your scores, one number at a time: your score on the day's case, on the week's Grand Register and on the month's Census, and how many cases you have solved. It also shows the boards: other players' Play Games names and scores, and yours to them. Apart from your saved games (below), the game never sends your save, your settings or anything you have crossed out.

Google Play Games handles your Play Games profile (your gamer name and picture) and the scores. To run the service, it also collects analytics and diagnostics, sent encrypted. This is described in Google's privacy policy. You choose who can see your Play Games activity, and you can delete your Play Games profile, in the Play Games app or your Google Account. The game does not receive your email address or Google Account details, and does not keep your Play Games name. If you do not sign in, nothing is sent.

Saved games (Google Play Games)

If you are signed in to Google Play Games, the game saves a copy of your progress (the records under Progress and settings) to your Play Games account, with Google's Saved Games. It saves after you solve a case, after a purchase, when you return to the game, and every few minutes while you play. On another phone signed in to the same account, the game brings it back and joins it with anything you have done there. Google keeps it under its own privacy policy; you can see and delete your saved games in your Google Play Games settings. It never reaches a studio server.

Advertising

Personalised ads and your choices. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choices before any ad is requested. Ads are personalised only if you agree to that. If you agree to some purposes but not to personalised ads, Google shows ads that are not personalised. If you do not consent, the game shows no ads. In US states with privacy laws, Google's US privacy message lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising. Elsewhere, Google may personalise ads using your device's advertising ID and how you use apps. Where Google's form applies, you can change or withdraw your choices at any time in Settings, Ad privacy choices (without consent the game shows no ads, and reward videos are no longer offered).

The advertising ID. Android gives your phone a resettable advertising ID. Google's ads service may read it to personalise ads, limit how often you see an ad and measure and protect ads, as your choices allow. You can reset or delete it in your phone's settings (on most phones: Settings, Privacy, Ads, or Settings, Google, Ads). Once it is deleted, it cannot be used to personalise ads.

To provide consent messages and ads, Google receives the connection's IP address and technical information about the app and device, such as app identity, the advertising ID where your choices allow, device and operating-system details, language and consent settings. Google stores consent records on the device. Google's use of this information is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and in its advertising data disclosure. We do not receive this information from Google, apart from aggregate advertising reports. We do not add a separate analytics service or a second advertising network.

Purchases

The game offers optional purchases through Google Play: some kept for good (Zero Ads, Gold Detective, the Starter Kit, the Detective's Bundle and the casebook packs) and some you can buy again (packs of hints and coins, the Piggy Bank and the Event Pass). Google Play handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we never see your card or payment details, your name or your email address. The game asks Google Play which purchases your Google account owns, and keeps that list on your device so they work offline and come back after a reinstall (Settings, Restore purchases). A refund removes what it paid for. Google gives us order records, such as the order number, product, price, date and country, which we use for accounting, refunds and support.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to its use, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it). Because the game keeps your data on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing the game's storage or uninstalling it; if you use Google Play Games, also delete the game's saved games in your Google Play Games settings. For the information Google handles for advertising, Play Games and purchases, use Settings, Ad privacy choices, reset or delete your advertising ID, or use Google's own controls. You can also contact us at the address above. You may complain to your data protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Emails to us

If you email us (Settings, Contact support), we receive your email address and what you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and keep it only as long as the enquiry needs, or as the law requires. Please don't send passwords, payment details or identity documents.

Changes

If the game changes how it handles information, we will update this notice and the date above before that version is released.
