Who provides the game?
Plain Sight: Hidden Objects is provided by Havoc Forge Games, a trading name of Grey Kraken Ltd, company number 16162098, registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 2 Bathurst Road, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV6 1HY. Grey Kraken Ltd is responsible for the information it handles to provide and support the game.
For privacy questions and requests, contact havocforgegames@gmail.com. This notice covers the Android game and its test builds. Our website privacy notice covers the website.
Who the game is for
Plain Sight is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. It does not ask your age.
Progress and settings
The game stores on your device: the levels you have played and their stars, your coins and hints, the chapters you have opened, the treasures in your Collector's Cabinet and the journal pages you have read, your progress on each season's trail, your daily gift, daily streak, daily tasks and today's puzzle (with its time and result), your rank and achievements, the weekly festivals and seasonal events you have played, the purchases your Google account owns and your settings (sound, music, vibration, reminders, play statistics, battery saver and the other switches in Settings). The game does not upload any of this to a studio server, and there are no player accounts, chat or player uploads. If you use Google Play Games, a copy of your progress is also kept in your Play Games account (see Saved games below); it does not include your settings.
These records remain until you clear the game's storage or uninstall it. If your phone's backup is on, Android may include the game's save in it, and restoring the backup brings it back; this depends on your device settings, and we cannot promise recovery. We cannot read or delete records held only on your device.
Daily reminder
Off unless you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, your phone schedules at most one notification a day: in the evening when today's puzzle is still waiting, otherwise in the morning when your daily gift is ready; never at night. On Android 13 and later, Android asks for your permission first. Your phone schedules and shows it; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. You can turn it off at any time in the game's Settings or in your phone's notification settings.
Sharing a result
After today's puzzle or a level you can tap Share. The game makes a picture of your result card and a line (the puzzle's number, which things you found and which you were shown, your time and your streak, never what was hidden) and opens your phone's own share menu. You choose whether and where to send it; the game sends nothing by itself.
Leaderboards (Google Play Games)
If you use Google Play Games on your phone, the game's Leaderboards show where you rank against other players. Play Games signs you in by itself if you already use it, or when you tap Sign in to Play Games. Only when you are signed in does the game send Google Play Games your scores, one number at a time: your best score for a level and your score on today's puzzle. It also shows the boards: other players' Play Games names and scores, and yours to them. Apart from your saved games (below), the game never sends Play Games your coins, your purchases or your settings.
Google Play Games handles your Play Games profile (your gamer name and picture) and the scores. To run the service, it also collects analytics and diagnostics, sent encrypted. This is described in Google's privacy policy. You choose who can see your Play Games activity, and you can delete your Play Games profile, in the Play Games app or your Google Account. The game does not receive your email address or Google Account details, and does not keep your Play Games name. If you do not use Play Games, the game sends it nothing and you can play everything.
Saved games (Google Play Games)
If you are signed in to Google Play Games, the game saves a copy of your progress (the records under Progress and settings, apart from your settings) to your Play Games account, with Google's Saved Games. It saves after you finish a level, after a purchase, when you return to the game, and every few minutes while you play. On another phone signed in to the same account, the game brings it back and joins it with anything you have done there. Google keeps it under its own privacy policy; you can see and delete your saved games in your Google Play Games settings. It never reaches a studio server.
Play statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To see how the game is played and make it better, the game can send play statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase, a Google service that works for us. They are sent only when both of these are true:
- Your privacy choices allow it. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, that means you agreed in Google's consent form (the same form as for ads); if you do not consent, nothing is sent. Elsewhere it follows Google's own answer for where you are.
- Your switch is on: Settings, Share play statistics (on unless you turn it off).
What is sent: what happens in the game, such as a level started and finished (its number, its kind, its stars and how long it took), today's puzzle, a treasure found, a new rank, an achievement, a festival reward, which reward videos you watch and which purchases you make (the product, never payment details), each with your minutes of play. As for every app that uses it, Firebase also records when the game is installed, opened and played, purchases made through Google Play (the product and its price), the app version, your device model, operating system and language, an approximate location (your country or region, worked out from your connection's IP address, which is not kept), and an app-instance identifier made for the game on your phone. Never sent: your advertising ID, your Android ID, your email address or your Google Account.
Never for advertising. The statistics are not used for ads, are not linked to your advertising ID and are not given to advertisers. We see reports built from them. Google keeps the detailed records for at most 14 months and handles them as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Privacy and security in Firebase.
Turning it off: switch off Share play statistics in Settings, or withdraw your consent in Ad privacy choices. Turning it off also deletes the statistics kept on your phone and its app-instance identifier; statistics already sent stay in our reports until Google deletes them.
Advertising
Plain Sight is free to play and funded by advertising and optional purchases.
- Reward videos: optional, played only when you tap a clearly labelled button, each giving exactly the reward named on it: double the coins (and festival tokens) for a level, double the daily gift or a chest, free coins, free hints, more time in a Rush level, or one video toward opening a chapter (coins open chapters too). Free coins and free hints are up to five videos a day each. The game never needs a video to continue.
- Full-screen ads: occasional, only at natural breaks: after a level or today's puzzle, or as you go into a level from home. None before your fifth level or in the first minute after the game opens; at least a minute and a half apart, and never more than six in fifteen minutes. Never while you are searching a scene. No Ads (or the Collector's Bundle) removes them for good.
- Never: banners or ads when the game opens.
- Kind of ads: rated up to PG (parental guidance). Where you allow it, Google may personalise them.
Google's privacy choices
When the game starts, it contacts Google's User Messaging Platform to check and present the applicable privacy choices: Google's European form in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and Google's US privacy message where it applies. This connection happens before your advertising-consent decision. Starting the game is not consent to receive ads.
Google's privacy service receives the connection's IP address and technical app and device information needed to provide the message and manage choices, such as app identity, device and operating-system information, language and consent-related settings. Google manages the consent record, including information stored on the device. We use necessary consent-management information to offer and respect privacy controls, based on our legitimate interests in providing those controls and our legal obligations where applicable.
Personalised ads and your choices
The game requests ads only after its current Google checks pass. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choices before any ad is requested. Ads are personalised only if you agree to that. If you agree to some purposes but not to personalised ads, Google shows ads that are not personalised. If you do not consent, the game shows no ads and you keep playing. In US states with privacy laws, Google's US privacy message lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising. Elsewhere, Google may personalise ads using your device's advertising ID and how you use apps. We request ads rated up to PG. We do not request precise location, microphone, camera or contacts permissions.
The advertising ID. Android gives your phone a resettable advertising ID. Google's ads service may read it to personalise ads, limit how often you see an ad and measure and protect ads, as your choices allow. You can reset or delete it in your phone's settings (on most phones: Settings, Privacy, Ads, or Settings, Google, Ads). Once it is deleted, it cannot be used to personalise ads.
Google's advertising services can receive IP-derived approximate location, app and ad interactions, performance diagnostics and, where your choices allow, the advertising ID and other device or app identifiers. These support ad delivery, personalisation where allowed, measurement, service performance and fraud prevention. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we use consent for the advertising processing described in the privacy message. Elsewhere we rely on our legitimate interest in funding a free game with advertising, and you can opt out as described above. Google's own handling is explained in its privacy policy, how Google uses information from apps that use its services and its advertising data disclosure. We do not receive this information from Google, apart from aggregate advertising reports. We do not add a second advertising network. An ad or support link may open a website or Google Play; that destination has its own privacy information.
Changing your choice
Open Settings, Ad privacy choices, when available, to review or change Google's choices. Declining consent prevents ad loading, and reward videos are then no longer offered; unavailable or incomplete consent information also leaves ads unavailable. Withdrawing does not erase information already lawfully processed by Google. We cannot delete Google's records through a local reset.
Purchases
The game offers optional purchases through Google Play: some kept for good (No Ads, the Starter Pack and the Collector's Bundle) and some you can buy again (packs of coins and hints, the Explorer's Bundle, the Piggy Bank with the coins it saved while you played, and the Festival Pass for a week's festival). Google Play handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we never see your card or payment details, your name or your email address. The game asks Google Play which purchases your Google account owns, and keeps that list on your device so they work offline and come back after a reinstall (Settings, Restore purchases). A refund removes what it paid for. Google gives us order records, such as the order number, product, price, date and country, which we use for accounting, refunds and support.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to its use, or to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it). Because the game keeps your data on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing the game's storage or uninstalling it; if you use Google Play Games, also delete the game's saved games in your Google Play Games settings. For play statistics, use Settings, Share play statistics. For the information Google handles for advertising, Play Games and purchases, use Settings, Ad privacy choices, or Google's own controls. You can also contact us at the address above; we may need proportionate verification of a request. You may complain to your data protection authority; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We do not make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
Emails to us
If you email us (Settings, Contact support), we receive your email address and what you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and keep it only as long as the enquiry needs, or as the law requires. Please don't send passwords, payment details or identity documents.
Changes
If the game changes how it handles information, we will update this notice and the date above before that version is released.
